What Is An STD/STI?

An STD/STI is a sexually transmitted disease/infection passed from one person to another through sexual contact. STDs/STIs can be passed vaginally, orally, or through anal sex. It may even be passed by skin-to-skin contact or other intimate physical contact. There are over 20 types of STDs/STIs and some common ones include:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • HPV
  • Syphilis
  • Chlamydia
  • Genital herpes
  • Gonorrhea
  • Trichomoniasis

Protect Your Future Reproductive Health

Since abortion is so invasive (even using the abortion pill), you should consider your future reproductive health. An STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) can be transferred through your cervix (which opens with any abortion) into your uterus. If this happens, it could cause PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease), which is painful and possibly lead to infertility.

At First Step Women’s Center, we offer pregnant women limited testing and treatment for the two most common, treatable STDs (Chlamydia and Gonorrhea).

You are not alone in your journey.
